A fabulous region
Since 1991 the Rhön has been a designated biosphere reserve. The federal states Bavaria, Hesse and Thuringia have been working together to protect the region and conserve all the different life forms that reside there. There are many things on offer for both young and old to experience ranging from the various animals and plant species, to the many castles, museums and leisure activities. The middle mountain ranges attract many hikers to the Kreuzberg, the Wasserkuppe and the Hochrhöner which won the award in 2010 for being Germany’s most beautiful hiking trail.
You can enjoy the Rhön whilst hiking or doing other outdoor-activities.
